Zoya Lovely Review

Even though our forecast calls for snow in a few days, my calendar says it's spring, so I decided to swatch a very "spring-y" collection, as my first post after coming back from my hiatus. Zoya Lovely is Zoya's Spring 2013 collection, and it fits the bill perfectly...

Blu - light blue creme. I'm a sucker for pale blues, and Blu was no exception. It's not exactly a baby blue, but it's definitely a light blue. Formula was good. I had a bit of an issue flooding my cuticle, but that may be because it's been awhile since I've swatched anything and I'm a wee bit rusty. On me, it wasn't a one-coater, but I was able to reach full opacity in 2 coats.

Jacqueline - magnolia-blossom cream creme. This one is a cream, but there is also a good amount of yellow as well. As soon as I saw Jacqueline in the bottle, I knew I'd love it. A cream that reaches full opacity in a reasonable number of coats has been on my wish list for awhile. It took me 3 coats to reach opacity.

Julie - lavender metallic shimmer. Zoya does metallic shimmers exceptionally well. This one and the 2 other shimmers in this collection reminded me of the Zoya's shimmers from 2012, but they are a little less metallic. As for color, I loved Julie in the bottle, but on my hand, I thought it didn't work so well with my skin tone. It's such a lovely color, through, and if you have more olive skin that me, it will look fantastic on you. It reminds me of the first crocuses in spring. 3 coats.

Gie Gie - pink metallic shimmer. Gie Gie is Julie's pink sister. I'm assuming that Gie Gie is the update to Zoya's previous, and discontinued, "GiGi", a color that was so pretty in the bottle, but incredibly disappointing on the nail. Gie Gie is a light candy pink with silver metallic shimmer. She almost reminds me of a combination of Shelby and Rory from last year's Beach and Surf collections. I had to work a bit with the formula, but I was able to reach opacity in 3 coats.

Neely - pistachio green creme. I love light greens that aren't minty, however, Neely just didn't look that great on my hands. That's not suprising, though, as pale greens are always the most apt to bring out the red in my skin. It's a beautiful color, and I think it would look great on darker skintones. The formula was a bit watery, and I did have an issue with flooding the cuticle, but it was manageable. 3 thin coats.

Piaf - daffodil yellow metallic shimmer. Piaf is the brightest in the bunch and probably one of my favorites. It reminded me of the daffodils that are poking their heads up all around here. I did have a bit of an issue reaching full opacity in a low number of coats (this is 3), but that can be managed with using a base coat and letting the coats dry in between.

All in all, I really like this collection from Zoya. It really does put me in the mindset for early spring. The collection is currently available at Zoya.com. Zoya polishes retail for $8 a bottle.
