Shopping In The Netherlands: The Darling Amsterdam

At the beginning of the month I blogged about a lovely little weekend away in Amsterdam and I've been longing to do a more detailed post about a shop I just fell head over heels for. Said shop is called 'The Darling' which is a boutique in the heart of Amsterdam's infamous Negen Straatjes (the Nine Little Streets).

The Nine Streets is a wonderful little spot in the heart of Amsterdam, located just a five minute walk from Dam Square in the western canal district, which is now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the Nine Streets, you will finales endless little streets intertwined that boast over 200 little specialty stores and boutiques housed in a wonderful mix of seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth century buildings. A visit to this historic shopping district was something I had read so much about before my visit, and was at the top of my must-sees for my stay.

Whilst totally in my element my eyes beamed when I spied a shop that is just so me. Said shop was called 'The Darling' and it was official; I had fallen head over heels. I had entered girly paradise! Sweet lace crop tops mixed with crochet trimmed jumpers hung delicately from little branch racks and bags and accessories with slogans and of course 'darling' on. Can this shop get more perfect?

Well, it seems so, because if the above wasn't enough, you can enhance this sugar-sweet paradise shopping experience by heading upstairs to their cafe area where you can grab a cold drink, tea, coffee and a cupcake whilst dreaming up your shopping list. Because, you know shopping can be pretty exhausting and all, especially when you're cycling around the city (then again, I'm not a natural!) so it makes the perfect place to rest and take a moment for yourself. But, if you want to get all your friends to experience the moment with you, 'The Darling' also plays hosts to home theatre nights with live music, cupcake workshops, clothing swaps, customising workshops, knitting lessons, and so much more. To stay up to date with all the goings-on head to their event book.

You can also stay up to date with The Darling on their Facebook page. I've also included a photo of the necklace I got. I felt this bicycle necklace perfectly symbolised my lovely Netherlands adventure and it will definitely remind me of this shop. Oh and want to see the spinning window display of cupcakes in the window? This makes up for my blurry photo above but I didn't have the heart to delete it! Head to Naomi's Youtube channel right here to see the loveliest video she did about her trip to 'The Darling'. It is so beautifully edited and it's the perfect way to end this blog post.

Have any of my darling readers been to 'The Darling' in Amsterdam? In fact, how many of you reading this blog post live in the Netherlands? I love nothing more than connecting with my international readers.
