Music Monday: Josef Salvat

Once again the wonderful Soundcloud has allowed me to find more musical gems that I actually have enough 'Music Monday' posts to see me out this year alone! But today, all the focus your ears need is for the amazing Josef Salvat.

Yet again it's difficult to find too much about Josef as with my other 'Music Monday' features, but what I do know is that Josef was born in Australia but now resides in London as a singer-songwriter. And according to this Guardian article he studied law, and that he is/has worked with Rich Cooper, producer of Razorlight and Mystery Jets, and that his press is handled by the people who look after Adele, Björk and Beyoncé. All sounding very impressive so far!

I found Josef through his EP 'In Your Prime' and I have literally had it on repeat since my discovery. It's both highly soothing and highly addictive all at the same time. His music could be described as electro-pop, especially tracks such as “Open Season" where Josef's sweet, honey vocals mix with pulsating rhythms that I adore. This is in fact my favourite track from the EP. It has the formations of many other songs I like but my ears were pinged to something totally unique in "Open Season". It's almost like it's soulful electro-pop because it has so many layers you don't usually get in this genre of music. And this theme continues in the other tracks "Shoot and Run" and "'This Life". The whole EP is perfect for getting through your inbox, or for writing a blog post or anything like this because the beat and the drive of the tracks will keep you motivated but Josef's zen vocals will make you be utterly on your game, trust me! There's also a beautiful stripped back, piano led version, of Rihanna's "Diamonds" which apparently singer Sia is a huge fan of too.

Remember Josef Salvat's name, because he is quickly going to emerge as an artist to watch over the coming months. If you head to Josef's main website you can download a free track called 'Every Night' which is also a treat for the ears. Josef's full album is set to be released in early 2015 and I can't wait.

Are there any other Josef Salvat fans out there? I hope you liked this musical offering for the week. Let me know what you're listening to and loving as well.

xoxo
