DIY Leather Shamrock Keychain

I love, love, love quick and simple. If I can be creative and come up with something that will take me all of ten minutes but still look awesome, I consider that a great day. So I was pumped when these little DIY leather shamrock keychains came together in less time than it takes to microwave your dinner leftovers. And if you’re forgetful about St. Patrick’s Day, just whip up one of these for your keyring and you won’t get caught without some green.

Materials:

  • leather scraps
  • scissors
  • keyring
  • E-6000
(or similar strong glue)
  • pen and paper
  • Make Time: 10 Minutes

Start by sketching out a shamrock on your paper. Cut out the shamrock and trace onto the back side of two pieces of leather. Cut out the leather shamrocks. Also cut a small strip of leather, approximately 1 1/2″ by 1/4″.

Fold the leather strip in half and glue the ends together. Then glue the ends to the back side of one leather shamrock.

Spread glue on the back of the other shamrock and lay it carefully on top of the first. Be sure that the glue adheres but does not seep out over the edges. Wipe away any excess glue.

Thread your keyring through the leather loop and add your keys! Take it out for a spin. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
