My Dear Watson

It's that time again - Tattoo Time! I promised myself a new tattoo from my expense check that I got for training. Well, turns out I had some lucky timing. My expensive check came in very quickly, and I had a holiday that gave me a three day weekend. So I rushed to call Jeff, my tattoo guy, and made an appointment.

I found this design on pinterest and *KNEW* it was the one to add to my right forearm. The colors, the design, the hexagons! It all fit perfectly into my body's 'theme'.

I struggled with how to incorporate cats into my ink without it coming off as cutesy or twee. My first piece done by Jeff, was a blue cat skeleton with silhouette. He was done in honor of my oldest lived cat, Gomez, who passed away at the ripe old age of 23. Many consider this particular tattoo as morbid, but I feel it has the right combination of cute and creepy. He's always guarding my back now.

But later on, I discovered this design and knew it was meant to fit into my skin. I think the cat outlined in black reminds me very much of my new problem child, Watson. Tuxedo cats in my life have been special. Of course all my rescues are special in one way or another, but some cats just have a certain impact on my life that I know I'll never forget. My two tuxedos have been those.
Watson is boisterous, beloved, smart, sweet, adores kisses and belly rubs, and keeping anyone company in the bathroom. But the poor dear came to me flea ridden and exhausted. We battled the fleas, and now we're battling what looks to be a food allergy. We just switched him and his big brother, Spike, over to a new food that is grain free.
I hope with this new change, we'll have Watson around for many many years to come.
