Ok, honestly none of these items came from J. Crew, but the day I wore this at school several of the students told me I was looking very Crew-ish that day. Of course this is not my usual look, which made it even more fun to branch out and experiment with. Obviously, I tend to stick with things that are a little less preppy than a collared shirt and sweater combination, but I actually enjoyed this look.

One of the reasons I have been hesitant to wear an outfit like this in in the past was because I feel a button-down shirt under a sweater tends to give off a very boxy and often frumpy look. But then I was turned on to the style hack of layering a fitted cami over the shirt and under the sweater in order to retain feminine proportions. What a difference that made! Plus the extra layer helped with warmth on these days that have already failed to rise above 32*! The cami I used was a little long so it did bunch up a little around the waist since I wanted to make sure the shirt tails stuck out. Next time I would go with a shorter, almost cropped, cami in order to maintain the proportions without the waist bunching.

Now that I have students taking most of my OOTD pics, I have to say the camera roll is filled with pictures of me laughing, talking and making some of the most ridiculous faces. I really need to learn how to act when there is a person behind the camera so I don’t continue making faces like the one below!
