Nature Heals the Weary soul cartoon

Hello – sorry I’m late posting. It was visiting grandson time and ended up being a visit to my folks too! Life happens right? So I’m still behind on my cartoons and this weekend I’ll be off to a Celebration of Life for my good friend who recently passed away. I’ll be going out of town for the celebration so i doubt I’ll have time to do some drawing. We shall see. These cartoons are for my 60 cartoons in 60 days Challenge. My birthday is on June 15 and i was planning on having all of the cartoons done by then.

I’m a huge Joseph Campbell fan and while looking for his quotes online i came across this one “We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us”. Often times we set off thinking our life will unfold a certain way but then our path veers off and takes some surprising twists and turns. Often the life that is waiting is even more magnificent than what we had imagined.

Nature heals the weary soul – I think i invented this saying – it came to me while grieving in the backyard and looking out onto the yard of magnificent flowers and greenery. It reminded me of my dear friend Cheri who passed and how much solace she derived from her last few months on earth from her garden. Her wonderful family created this sanctuary for her. On our last conversation just over 2 weeks ago she was telling me about how much joy it brought her to simply sit out in the garden, listen to the birds and look at her flowers.

That’s how this cartoon evolved.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Love, Violette xo
