Statement sweatshirts - yes they're still a 'thing'

If there was any concern that I might be losing my susceptibility to fashion trends because of all this interest in making my own clothes, my last trip to Zara reestablished it with a vengeance.

With the party season in full swing, I have discovered that I have assembled a very complete wardrobe of skirts, I lack sufficiently shiny and dressy tops to wear with them (still have the sweatshirt & skirt bug). In theory, I was going shopping for a dressier top to pair with my skirts to make an appropriate party / dinner outfit (and I did find one, but a post on that later).

But then I found this sweatshirt at Zara:

No doubt inspired by this Givenchy top, I fell for it immediately. Wearing it I feel somewhere between super cool and fashion victim. It looks great with my denim skirt (which only cost 1 EUR - more on that later too!).
