The Week That Was: Memorial Day 2013 Edition

Though summer is a month away in the Northern Hemisphere, the official start of the season in the United States is Memorial Day weekend. And though this weekend is marked by the double-bill of the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 (with the Monaco Grand Prix as their opening act), family outings, and all the things indicate summer’s arrival, Memorial Day itself must be kept for those served through the ultimate sacrifice.

Here is what you might have missed this week…

• Paid tribute to The Doors’ co-founder Ray Manzarek
• Found vindication when, after months of speculation and communication breakdowns, H&M finally announces what we’ve known all along: A new store to open at Oxmoor Center in my city this fall
• Celebrated with my friend (and Outside the Box subject) Laura at her band’s CD release party
