Music Monday: Seattle Edition

Yesterday, I announced that I would be moving to Seattle this coming week. The official departure is next Tuesday by Greyhound. In the meantime, let the countdown begin!

I could have focused on the 2013 MTV VMAs for this edition of Music Monday, but that would have been boring. Instead, allow the avenue to take you through Seattle’s music scene, a garden of sound if there ever was. Do make your way inside to see and hear what’s on the playlist this week.

* * * * * * * * *

“Same Love” – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Mary Lambert: Okay, I’ll be topical, but only because the duo took home three moonmen Sunday evening for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Cinematography for “Can’t Hold Us,” and Best Video with a Message for the above.

“Loud Love” – Soundgarden: One of the Big Four of Grunge, these monsters of rock continue to leave their mark to this day. The quartet recently released their sixth studio album “King Animal” late last year, with no plans of stopping since their 2010 reunion.

“I Don’t Believe in Love” – Queensrÿche: Pulling a page from Pink Floyd, there are currently two versions of the band touring and recording as a result of the fallout between original vocalist Geoff Tate and the rest of the group.

“Songbird” – Kenny G: Yes, Seattle can either be blamed or celebrated — depending on your point of view — for bestowing upon the music world this master alto sax man and his brand of smooth jazz. No doctor’s office or adult contemporary station’s playlist is complete without hearing this sometime during the day.

“Inky Drips” – Anomie Belle: Finally, I leave you with this 2011 single by the multi-instrumentalist. Belle will be touring with Ott. and Bluetech starting in mid-September.
