Through the Rearview: August 2013

The avenue is being packed up into a suitcase, and loaded onto the first bus to Seattle as we speak. Before I board, however, here is the final look back upon the month that was August 2013.

Nearly six years ago, I boarded a flight from Seatac, Wash. to Louisville, Ky. looking to start again after 4.5 tumultuous years in a house full of drama from the first day in Tacoma. In that time, here’s what happened:

  • Held a full-time job, then lost it in the recession
  • Started this fashion blog
  • Discovered just how powerful my writing could be
  • Jumped into freelance journalism
  • Interned at a radio station I loved
  • Attended New York Fashion Week, and a lot of other fashion events
  • Met a lot of wonderful people in Louisville and elsewhere, even interviewed a few
  • Witnessed (in some manner) three funerals, six weddings
  • Legally adopted the surname that has brought me some success since renaming this blog in 2011
  • And finally, enjoyed as much as this city had to offer as I could enjoy

I don’t know what may come when I step off the bus in Seattle next week, nor do I know where — or if — I’ll have a place to stay when I do, but this is something that needs to happen.

As for the blog, effective 1 September 2013, nothing will be posted. No fashion, no interviews… nothing. I will be in a rebuilding phase for who knows how long, and my focus must be upon that.

Regarding adverts, the shop will also be shuttered come 1 September 2013; I can’t spare the $9/month to keep it running right now.

It has been an honor to have been with you all for over three years. I hope, in time, we will meet again.

Until then,

wish me luck.
