winter survival kit

I have a love/hate relationship with winter. Despite the dreadful cold weather, I’m grateful for snow and the changes in seasons where we live. Last year I wrote a winter survival guide (that I’m still using!), and this year with all of the crazy cold temperatures we’ve been having, I decided to write a winter survival kit.

Now that I’m a homeowner, I swear the practical side of me is really coming out. I love to think of myself as a free spirit, but most of the time I’m a girl that worries about unnecessary concerns and unlikely outcomes. Sometimes when I catch myself sharing these irrational worries with Nick, I like to joke, “anxiety girl strikes again!” Because the only way to stay sane is to be able to take a step back and laugh at ourselves, right?

In reality, I hope that we never have to use our winter survival kit, but I feel better after doing a bit of research and making sure we have what we need on hand in case of a serious emergency when it’s well below freezing. If the polar vortex continues (and freezes our pipes again), we’ll be ready!
