Pantene Expert Age Defy + Giveaway

Dare I say it? I don’t like going to the hairdressers. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the perfect cut and colour, but I’m just not a fan of the process of getting that amazing new did. I find it not enjoyable most of the time. The waiting, sitting still, the sink that hurts my neck, the random chit chat, the loud hairdryer and endless tugging of my hair during brushing. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that I don’t go to the hairdressers that often. That is why it’s extremely important I keep my hair as healthy as possible for a longer time.

As I ran out of my Mythic Oil products I was looking for something good that wouldn’t exactly break the bank. I still love the Mythic Oil range to death and I’m still using the original Mythic oil even now as it is one of my all-time fave hair products, but it was time to move on. A while ago Pantene sent me a couple of new products to try and this Pantene Expert Collection range immediately spoke to me. It’s not as cheap as the regular drugstore/supermarket stuff from Pantene we all know, yet it’s a lot more affordable than most professional products. Although the packaging looks interesting, black and matte = luxury in my book, I probably wouldn’t have picked this up myself because of the term ‘anti-ageing’. Tell me again why is it wrong for women to age? And it’s not like this product is going to stop time. But I digress. Like with so many things I normally wouldn’t try I was up for a pleasant surprise.

As much as I hate to admit it, ageing does have an impact on the condition of your hair. Believe it or not, my hair used to look and feel like one of the hair product ads when I was a kid. I remember my ponytail being three times as big as it is now. My hair has become more fragile and susceptible to stress. It’s oily at the roots, dry at the ends and breaks when things get too rough. Thanks to the hair care routine I’ve been keeping up until now, my main concerns today is frizziness and hair loss. Pantene Expert AgeDefy has played a fair role in keeping my hair troubles at bay recently. Even though I don’t go to the hairdressers that often, I kind of don’t need to. I can go on for weeks without any split ends or dry hair. It feels soft and fresh and I can now tug it without breaking any hairs. It won’t exactly help me a lot with my frizzy hair, unless I use the mask after the conditioner, but it does help with the dry ends. Do you need the entire range? Definitely not. But the nourishing mask is a good way to start.

The most interesting product from the range is definitely the Advanced Thickening Treatment. I’m still quite in the middle on how well it performs. You’re supposed to use this every day on wet or dry hair, but I only use it once or twice a week since my roots get oily quickly and I only use it on wet hair. The serum has a liquid gel-like & non-sticky texture that you spray on your roots and massage it in. It’s supposed to make your hair thicker from the root, which might be interesting if your hair has gotten thin and fragile. (Tiny side note; this won’t give you thick hair if you have thin hair, it only promises to make it look thicker like it used to be.) This in turn will make it look like you have more hair than before. It promises a visible result after only 14 days.

Conclusion: I don’t feel like I’ll throw everything else out for this, but the Age Defy line is one that does a good job at nourishing the hair and making it soft & silky. The Thickening Treatment continues to intrigue me although I haven’t noticed any big changes just yet. I’ll just have to do a full 14-day trial and report back. In the meantime, read on to find out how you can try it yourself..
