Vogue Paris stars Edita Vilkeviciute and Andreea Diaconu have taken "Un Week-end" in the May issue! These girls with movie star looks travel in French bourgeois style, no Thelma and Louise here! Mikael Jansson's photos have a polished look with a sophisticated use of light! In beautifully composed photos, the West Coast sunlight caresses the impeccably dressed models as they drive up to Point Reyes, California.
These pages gain from a second look, the travel story of this couple allows Anastasia Barbieri to style with feminine/masculine clothing. Like all Anastasia's best work, her sense of style comes through in carefully chosen pieces that are of the moment yet timeless. A Ferragamo trench, Max Mara coat, and Saint Laurent black mocassins en cuir will take any girl through many weekends! "Wellie" style never looked better as both girls walk the shoreline in Hunter boots, and the sunlight seems to ignite Andreea's cigarette, highlighting her Elsa Peretti necklace.
The feminine/masculine theme is evident throughout with the "boyish" looks Anastasia has chosen for Andreea. The girls relaxing in the boat is fantastic for the clothing, lighting, and composition of the couple. Their bodies reflect the underlying erotic mood. Almost spooning, Edita is soft and sensual while Andreea is masculine in dress and gestures. The cozy mood heats up as Edita rests against Andreea on a sofa in this gorgeously lit shot. Andreea's peach and double Elsa Peretti pendants as well as Edita's watch and bracelet are pretty details in the sunlight.
Anastasia's personal style comes through in the photos. Andreea on the dock, or in the Ferretti pants and jacket with the Saint James hat like a Greek sailor's cap (seen on Emmanuelle Alt recently) or Edita in the Chloé blouse with men's Polo boxers and Céline heels! The same photo boasts a "self-portrait" of Barbieri via Andreea in the McQueen pantsuit and Charvet button down shirt!
Throughout this editorial Jansson's colors are amazing! The blue water, hint of spring green on the hills beyond, faded marigold, and bronze of the bicycles, Andreea's striped blouse... The destination of Point Reyes is on the side of the shipwreck while the girls pause to take in the sights. Here, too, Edita is more "girlie" in just a Mulberry sweater, with one sleeve of a different knitted texture than the right, and pushed up to show the watch. Anastasia gives a wink to laidback West Coast style with the socks and clogs, also popular in "granola" Moab, Utah!
Like all fantastic weekends, Sunday afternoons are inevitable with Monday just a sunrise away. What better way to end this trip than with the girls in just Chanel in a field back lit by the setting sun!
