Jumpsuit Style

For a piece that's probably one of the most effortless styles to wear when you've got a few styling tricks under your belt, jumpsuits sure seem to intimate many (my past self included) out of wearing them more often. If you also have an hourglass figure or really any curves at all, jumpsuits can throw you off a bit - in certain fabrics and cuts, they can hug the areas you'd rather skim over while obscuring your best features. Cue today's Jumpsuit Styling 101 class featuring this stunning LOFT jumpsuit...right after the jump!

First things first, if you're going to do any fabric that is more billowy/potentially clingy (think silk), opt for a silhouette that hits you at your waist and offers lots of room through the leg and the butt. This Aritzia jumpsuit I wore while in Maui is the perfect example of a silk piece that still totally flatters hourglass silhouettes thanks to its waist-nipping style and roomy legs.
If, however, you want to do a more slouchy, tomboyish cut like this amazing LOFT jumpsuit's hip-hugging, '70s-esque silhouette, then opt for something in a sturdier fabric like cotton or a linen blend. The thicker fabric will give you the structure you need to wear something that cinches at the hips rather than the waist, and will also allow you to tweak the leg length as you'd like (love the contrast when the legs are rolled up!).
And, of course, for you fellow big-bosomed girls out there, a minimizing strapless bra will continue to be your best friend during the warm weather months when you want to show off dainty necklines and delicate straps - with something like this jumpsuit, you definitely don't want a trapeze silhouette developing up top. I get my strapless bras from Change but have heard good things about Spanx too! They're never the prettiest bras but as any girl who is chesty knows, it's worth taking the girls down a notch to be able to wear more styles/cuts!
And in oooother news, as the days are trickling away and my departure date for my months-long trip to Europe is approaching faster and faster, I am starting to finally tackle my travel prep to-do list. First things first, the travel hashtag (of course!) - follow along on Instagram with #tvobineurope! Will be starting in London so expect lots of ridiculous pub shots and touristy snaps. Have never been and I am so excited. As always, the more tips the better so please let me know if you have any advice or if there's anything (or anyone) I have to see!
