Remembering 9/11

This is the 13th anniversary of the Sept 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, where almost 3,000 lives were lost.

It's one of those days where you remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard the horrible news, just like when President Kennedy was assassinated.

I was downtown working, I had just arrived at the office and one of my bosses' husbands called to see if she was allright and he told me the horrible news. When my co-workers arrived, we gathered around a radio and listened for awhile, many of us with tear-stained cheeks. The director gave us permission to leave. The 9:30 am train was packed. Many people were on their phones or tablets, updating everyone on what was happening. We were all talking to each other.

When I got home, my husband pulled into the driveway a few minutes later, and we hugged each other hard. We watched the horrible pictures for most of the day not believing that it actually happened. We prayed and cried together.

Let's again pray for the victims and family members that G-d is giving the survivors the courage and strength to go on living a good life in the aftermath of this horrible tragedy.
