travel: rome

I've been to Rome once before this visit, a quick 24 hours where we rushed to see the Colosseum and took an early morning taxi to the airport. I didn't get a good sense of Rome on that trip and I knew I owed the city a return to see if I could find more to like. This time around, Rome was incredible.

We stayed near the Campo de Fiori, equidistant from two bakeries where I ate pizza bianca every morning for breakfast. Two warm slices of salty oily bread wrapped in paper is breakfast perfection. I honestly couldn't decide which bakery had the superior pizza bianca, so I just alternated every morning. I also consumed the best gelato I've ever had in Rome. I'll dig up the name and share it in a travel recap post. All things being equal, my great wish would be to live well on frequent amounts of delicious gelato and warm pizza bianca.
One of our many 'people photographing things w/ their tablet' photos.
A feral cat sanctuary! Kitty colonies live in these ruins, cared for by the Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary, and you can peer in from above and watch the kitties move about.
