Nude is rude?

Rihanna wears an Adam Selman gown
Summer is in the air, and you know what that means..it's HOT! So hot that all I want to do is wear my underwear and....never mind. Yesterday morning, I was brought to the attention of a so called "controversial" sheer look that Rihanna pulled off at the CFDA 2014 red orange/blue carpet. When I first saw the look, I was like, "Good gracious ass bodacious!" Then, "Wow. Is this another reaction to the deletion of her instagram account?"
Amongst the others on the carpet, riri actually looked kinda elegant, it reminded me of a modern Josephine Baker. A performer from the roaring twenties. I mean sure, it's not something every woman can pull off everyday, but that's pretty much what you'd expect from her. Face it, we look at celebrities just like Rihanna because they look nothing like 88% of the women in the world, it's our escape from reality! Also, Rihanna is clearly an example of the 80% attitude, 20% fashion rule that I abide by in life, which is why I praise her. The thing about fashion is...everything can be stylish (except uggs n crocs...sorry but that shit scarred me for life) as long as you have confidence. Style is about you wearing the clothes, and not the clothes wearing you.

To me, what Rihanna (and Mel Ottenberg) did here seems just like an example of some of Damien Hirst's art pieces, especially the diamond skull or the shark piece entitled: The physical impossibility of death in the mind of someone living. Those pieces confronted us with our biggest fear of death literally staring in our faces, while Rihanna's look literally confronted us with exposing her body. Both were executed in shocking ways for general audiences, and it taught me that they have nothing to hide. I guess they've been doing us a favour by simply telling the truth as it is, which is indeed what the world is afraid of. In Rihanna's case, the truth would be that she can actually pull off anything because of her endless trill amounts of confidence.

She's really modernised such an age-old traditional twenties silhouette by confronting us viewers with what we always want to see whenever we hear her name these days....her body! As if she's telling the world, "I can't hide anything with social media so what's the point of covering up the truth! Fuck y'all, love y'all." Isn't she one in a million. I can't wait till she wears a potato sack to her next event.
