DIY Painted Mason Jar Centerpiece

This is one of those super easy rprojects that I thought would be gorgeous and halfway through had to put on the brakes and change plans. I originally wanted the jars to read, "FALL." They look MUCH better like this though!

I bought multi surface paint that I hoped would adhere to the jars better than regular craft paint, it didn't. I painted 2 coats, let them dry for 24 hours and then lightly sanded. The paint practically came off just rubbing it with my fingers. I thought I would use those cute sticker labels for my lettering-I LOVE them!

I used stensils to trace the letters and then a Sharpie to color them in. I started putting them on my jars and realized 2 things:

1. If I didn't get them on perfectly and had to remove to reposition, they would pull off all of the paint.

2. I hated how the stickers looked on the final project. I feel like it made it look cheap. What do you think?

I bought 2 bunches of grasses and divided them among the 4 jars. I decided to flip the jars around and ....aaaaaahhh. SO much better.

The really light sanding left the raised glass looking beautiful and I am much happier with this simpler version, more my style.

I guess I will be pulling off the stickers and repainting the back of the jars so I can use them as a centerpiece instead of on my mantle. One good thing is, the jars are so much more versatile like this. The ivory color will go almost any season or holiday. I can just switch out the flowers and grasses and add little ribbons to match our mood.
