Review + Swatches: ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Crayon - Gunmetal

A few days ago I reviewed a chubby eye pencil from SEVENTEEN and now it's time to review an eye pencil from ELF. The ELF one is a little different though actually being sold as an eyeliner crayon, but it's still a chunkier pencil! ELF do actually have a chubby eyeshadow pencil, but to be honest with you I don't really rate it. This eyeliner is a newer item from the brand, so I thought I'd review it for you today as we all know ELF can be hit or miss!
As always I've included a summary at the end :)

The Basics
This is an eyeliner crayon, that comes in a chubbier size - more like an eyeshadow pencil. Unlike the SEVENTEEN one that I talked about in the intro, this Crayon has a much nicer packaging, with a twist up function that requires no sharpening! There were only 3 colours released here in the UK - I picked up Gunmetal, with the other two shades being Brown & Pitch Black. Each one has 2g of product and is part of the Studio Line. This is priced at £3.95 and available from ELF's Website.

The Formula
The most noticeable trait of this eyeliner is that it's hard. Applied to the back of the hand it's alright, and doesn't seem like its going to be too much of an issue. But the eye is a very sensitive area and it can be very uncomfortable to apply too much pressure from any product or to drag a liner across the lashline. I have found that this can be applied gently and give a very soft look. Once on the eye I do find that it stays put pretty well, being almost budgeproof.

Colour & Pigmentation
The colour of this as you might have guess is Gunmetal. It's rather deep and doesn't have too much of a blue tone to it which is nice. The finish of it is a soft metallic, although this doesn't transfer so well to the thin line of it I apply along the lashline. The pigmentation relates back to the formula with this product. It is quite hard in texture and so this does let down the pigmentation. However on the back of your hand where applying pressure isn't so much of an issue, you can get an opaque and even coverage.

The Good - Pretty colour, practical packaging, stays put pretty well on the eyes.
The Not so Good - Hard texture means that you have to apply a bit of pressure on application.
Would I Repurchase? Nope, sorry ELF!
Price & Availability - £3.95, ELF's Website
I do find that ELF can be rather hit or miss in their products. But there's no denying that they're a bargain! There really are some gems to be found though, some of which I use on a very frequent basis - I feel a new ELF Favourites coming on, my last one is very old!
