Review: GOSH Prime 'n' Set Primer & Mattifying Setting Powder

You know me, ever the curious child! So a powder that is sold to also double up as a primer is pretty exciting thing for me. It's definitely something that sounds promising for travel - one less product to take and no liquid primer! That of course depends on whether it actually works, but that's what I'm here to tell you today, you'll have to read the review for that!
// var _gaq = _gaq || (); _gaq.push(('_setAccount', 'UA-37824282-1')); _gaq.push(('_trackPageview')); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); //
As always I've included a summary at the end :)

The Basics
Prime 'n' Set is a 2 in 1 face product that can be used as a primer and a setting powder. It comes in a plastic tub, complete with adjustable sifter. I tend to use the lid to swirl my brush in (Ecotools Bronzer Brush), but a saucer would work if you wanted something bigger. Inside is 7g of product, which comes in one shade, a whitish powder that sheers out to be translucent on the skin. The main ingredient is Oryza sativa powder AKA Rice powder - my Biology degree is at least useful for something! It is priced at £9.99 from Superdrug - although it's currently on offer for £7.99.

What did I think?
I have to say, it did take a little getting used to using a powder as a primer. I don't think it's something that would suit those with dry skin, who would benefit from something more hydrating - I also found this GOSH one to cling to dry areas of skin. It does cover over my pores quite nicely with its finely milled formula. I've also been using this to set my foundation, where it mattifies nicely and creates a smoother finish to the surface of my skin. Despite my initial concerns I did actually find that this works at keeping my skin matte - it's worth noting though that I don't have the oiliest of skin! It does make sense though to have a powder based product to absorb excess oil though - I wonder if my other powders will do the job? I may try the ELF HD Powder as a primer, they seem similar!

The Good - Not just gimmicky, actually works, 2in1, reduces the appearance of pores, 7g product, adjustable sifter.
The Not so Good - Not the cheapest, clings to dry patches, may look ashy on deeper skintones due to the white colour.
Would I Repurchase? At the moment yes, but if the ELF HD Powder works the same as a primer I may reconsider.
Price & Availability - £9.99, Superdrug.
Are you brave enough to go out of your comfort zone of liquid primers to try something a bit more powdery?! I must say, it did feel really weird at first, like I was doing my make-up backwards! I'm a convert though and especially during the summer I think this is going to be amazing!
