Review + Swatches: L'Oreal Color Riche Lumiere Mono Eyeshadow - Quartz Fume

They don't always make it easy to know the name of a product do they! Reading the packaging of this you could genuinely think it was called so many things - hopefully I got it right though! I'm much more of a palette person, it takes quite a lot for me to purchase individual eyeshadows - although as you can see it does happen from time to time!
// var _gaq = _gaq || (); _gaq.push(('_setAccount', 'UA-37824282-1')); _gaq.push(('_trackPageview')); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); //
As always I've included a summary at the end :)

The Basics
What drew me to this eyeshadow is that it has a gel based formula, whilst still being a powder eyeshadow. Now I may be behind the times, but I've not heard of anything like this before and was very excited to try it! This is a new formula from L'Oreal coming in the same small golden packaging as their other single eyeshadow. It comes with a beautiful embossed finish and will set you back £5.49 from Boots - they don't seem to be online yet, but seem to be fairly widespread in stores.

The Formula
This has one of the most amazingly soft and blendable formulas I've ever experienced in an eyeshadow - I gave it all away in the first sentence! It really does feel like a dream though and blends so well. I haven't tried it, but I would bet that you could apply this with your fingers and it not even look like it! However I do have one issue with this and this is the wear of it. I first tried this without a primer, where it creased horribly on me, starting after only a couple of hours. I then tried this with my Too Faced Shadow Insurance which definitely made an improvement, however there was still creasing at the 7/8 hour point.

Colour & Pigmentation
The formula is a little love/hate, but the pigmentation definitely doesn't let us down! As you can see it has an impressive pigmentation, that sheers out evenly making it perfect for a one shadow look. The colour itself is also quite unusual it's a shimmery taupe shade, with tones of purple in it, even looking slightly bronze in certain lights.

The Good - Reasonably priced, blends well, unusual shade, pigmented, soft texture.
The Not so Good - Creases on me - I would 100% recommend using a primer.
Price & Availability - £5.49, Boots.
