Wedding Week! Bridal Party Face Masks

Weddings are the one time where you really want your skin to be looking top notch. You don't want dry flaky patches, blemishes or red patches, you want it looking its best! Today as part of my Wedding Week I wanted to share some of my favourite masks for a variety of skin concerns. I do recommend trialing the masks before the eve of the big day, just to make sure they don't react badly to your skin, that wouldn't be a good situation!
// var _gaq = _gaq || (); _gaq.push(('_setAccount', 'UA-37824282-1')); _gaq.push(('_trackPageview')); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); //

The Dry/Dehydrated Skin
I don't often have dry skin, only in the depths of winter. But these masks can also work for those with dehydrated skin to help rehydrate your skin. I actually quite like to use these after a more drying blemish mask. My favourite mask of all time for dry/dehydrated skin is the Aromatherapy Asociates Hydrating Rose Face Mask (£37, FeelUnique), it is pricey, more than I would pay for a mask, but I've found it free with magazines twice now, so keep your eyes peeled. For something not quite as amazing, but still good and a lot cheaper, try the Quick Fix Facials Mega Moisture Gel Mask (£4.99, Boots), it contains Hyaluronic Acid, which helps to provide deep hydration to the skin, although it does also contain Kaolin which can be a little drying.

The Blemish Prone Skin
This is my skin! I've tried a lot of masks for blemish prone skin, so only the best of the best has made it! I have two favourites which are rather different, but I can't decide which one I like best! First up is the Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Cooling Masque* (£16*, Look Fantastic), unlike most masks for blemish prone skin this is actually a gel. It contains Salicylic Acid to help clear the skins follicles. It also contains other ingredients to reduce redness and irritation. My skin looks instantly better after using this! My other favourite is the Una Brennan Super Facialist Salicylic Acid Anti-Blemish Mask (£8.99, Boots). I know the picture shows the Tea Flower Deep Clean Mask, but it's exactly the same, I checked the ingredients, just renamed! It contains Kaolin (clay), which helps to even out my skin. Additional ingredients make my skin look fresher and if used frequently really makes a difference.

The Aging Skin I only have one mask in this category as it's only something I've been using recently. More out of interest than because I have super aged skin. I think this is something my mum will love though and will definitely be bringing this along with me for her to try if she wants to. It would help if I mentioned what I was rambling on about - the Nip Fab Bee Sting Fix Lifting Mask (£9.99, Boots), I'm not sure it's quite as good as the really expensive ones (I was super duper impressed with Rodials Glamoxy Snake Mask), however the Nip Fab one does give noticeable plumping of the skin and certainly makes it look healthier - watch out for the ingredients with this one if you have allergies as it does contain Bee Venom.

The Large Pores Another skin problem of mine! You can help reduce the look of large pores with a silicone based primer on the day. But for the double whammy effect you may want to use a mask that will temporarily reduce the appearance of pores. A personal favourite of mine is the Soap & Glory The Fab Pore Facial Peel (£10, Boots). Don't be scared it's not actually a peel, it's definitely a mask! It contains their PORESHRINK-R™ which does noticeable short term effects. I'd also recommend peel off masks for those concerned about large pores. They call pull some of the dirt out of your pores, which can also help reduce their appearance. The best I've found so far is the Avojo Black Peel Off Mask* (£3*, Avojo's Website)

The Troubled Skin By troubled skin, I mean something that needs a little TLC, perhaps it's a little red and blemished and a bit angry in need of calming down. The new Good Things Manuka Honey Radiance Face Mask (£5.99, Boots) is perfect for reducing redness, softening skin and not aggravating any blemishes you may have. It contains kaolin clay, fruit extracts and honey to calm and care for your skin. Another option is the Quick Fix Facials Calming Clay Mask (£4.99, Boots) targeted towards red and sensitive skin. It contains Aloe Vera as well as Chamomile and Rose Extracts well known for their soothing effects.
