Review + Swatches: MakeUp Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer - What I Believe

What I believe is that we should have the freedom to wear whatever lip colour we want. Whether it's pink, purple, orange, black or even a rainbow-esque concotion - actually that rainbow thing sounds like it could be fun! I tend to go with bright reds and berry shades or something nuder for work and 'makeup free' days. But sometimes it's fun to get out of our comfort zone. I originally bought this lipstick thinking it would fall into my category of nude pink fail safe colours. I was wrong, but the colours grown on me!
// var _gaq = _gaq || (); _gaq.push(('_setAccount', 'UA-37824282-1')); _gaq.push(('_trackPageview')); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); //
As always I've included a summary at the end :)

The Basics The packaging may fool you into thinking this is a lipgloss - it's not! This a matte lip cream, unscented for those that hate how everything smells like Vanilla! The shade range is really good, going from dark vampy shades, to reds, to pinks & purples - a total of 11 shades. They are priced at £3 each and available from MakeUp Revolutions Website & Superdrug.

The Formula I thought I was going to love this. Swatched it stays put on the hand for ages and ages. The non-sticky, non-dry feeling lacquer applies to the lips smoothly and evenly, setting down fully on the lips. However I find that when I move my lips, to talk/eat etc, it wears off in the middle leaving a patch of naked lip (oo err!). With a lighter shade like this, this isn't so bad, but if you were to pick up one of the vampy shades it might not work out so well! The rest of the colour of the lips lasts a good 3 to 4 hours if that counts for anything though!

Colour & Pigmentation Without making you loose all faith in my reviews, I just can't decide what colour this is. Swatched it looks like a subtle coral shade. But on the lips it looks much more pink as you can see from the pictures. I find this a bit odd as the pigmentation on this is almost opaque, so the natural lip colour won't be showing through much? This lip lacquer obviously has magic in it! As for the finish, it's a proper matte, not one of these fake glossy mattes.

The Good - Cheap, pigmented, a proper matte finish, impressive shade selection, unscented.
The Not so Good - Wears off around the middle of the lips.
Price & Availability - £3, Superdrug & MakeUp Revolutions Website.
