Eat Raw, Not Cooked – Book Event With Stacy Stowers!

Tomorrow evening join Free People 5th Ave for a special event with author Stacy Stowers as she launches her new book Eat Raw, Not Cooked! Stop by to meet Stacy and try out some of the tasty recipes from her book. And, the first 50 customers will receive a signed copy of the book and a free people tote bag!

How did all of this start?

I got valley fever when I was 22 and was disabled for 17 years. Then I did two things: I let go of eating processed food and stopped cooking my food. And in ten days I was pain free. I was changed and new. And that leads you to do crazy things like sell all of your things, pack your car, tour the country, feed people, write books, create recipes, and follow your heart. Wow, if I could tell anyone anything… it would be to follow your heart and follow your dreams like you have nothing to lose.

What does health mean to you?

Health means eating the freshest, realest food. It means having work to do that you love and that you work hard at. It means keeping friends and family close. It means laughing, especially at yourself! It means topping all of that with gratitude. And if you have room, loving an animal because that brings so much comfort to the soul.

What do you love most about Free People?

I love Free People because it connects so much with how I work with food and families. When I walk into a family’s home, I want them to feel comfortable and at east and confident. I want them to know that we are going to have fun and play and be creative and there’s no rules. I want them to feel like its a really safe place and that is how I feel when I walk into a Free People store. I walk in and I know I can be creative and there are no hard, fast, put-this-with-that rules. It’s fun. It’s fun!

Says Stacy, “By juicing vegetables, the nutrients are able to enter the bloodstream quickly. I recommend drinking 16 to 24 ounces of freshly pressed green juice every day. Your energy will increase within a week!”

The Replenisher:

Serves 2

2 cucumbers

2 celery stalks

2 green apples, cored

1 handful of parsley

4-5 lacinato kale leaves

1 kiwifruit, peeled

1 lime, peeled

1 thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger, peeled

Optional: 1 slice jalapeno pepper

Blend together in a juicer, and enjoy!
