Spicy Chicken Jalfrezi with Schwartz Flavour Shots

Mostly I make a curry from scratch, see my own curry powder recipe here. Sometimes I want a quick meal idea or a different curry that needs more spices than I stock and like a lot of us I scour the supermarket shelves looking for inspiration.

Schwartz known for their meal ideas have brought out some new Flavour Shots.
The new flavours, Spanish Paella, Italian Creamy Herb Tagliatelle and Indian Spicy Jalfrezi Curry, are contained in a plastic pot rather like a shot glass packed full of herbs, spices and seasonings infused in oil to create the perfect base for a meal for four.
As always I looked at the ingredients and am pleased to see all of the recipes contain no hydrogenated fat, artificial colours, added preservatives or MSG. Its all the spices you would buy in the shop and would cost a lot to start with. It needs a good stir before using and then its a simple dish to make.
SPOON Stir contents of Flavour Shot, then spoon into a large frying pan over a medium heat. Gently fry the onions for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.

SIZZLE Stir in the tomato purée, tomatoes, water, chicken and peppers. Bring to the boil, stirring. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

Remove the lid and continue to cook for 5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.

SERVE Delicious served with Basmati rice and naan bread.
It was a hit with the family, I found it made a generous meal for 4. Granny liked itas it was, as did Conor, Chris and I would have liked a little more heat, Schwartz do mention adding dried chillies if you do like spicy hot.
The new Flavour Shots are priced at £1.39, I have seen them this week in Morrison's for £1.
Schwartz provided me with the Flavour Shots to review, my opinions are my own!!
