GET FIT FRIDAY: 11 Low-Calorie Cocktail Recipes To Get Your Through The Holidays

Although Summer has sadly come to an end, my excess of happy hour appearances, work meetings and the infamous holiday cocktail are currently chasing me!

Did you know that it’s about 100 calories for a 1 1/2 ounce of 80-proof vodka, rum, gin, tequila, bourbon, brandy, scotch, or whiskey shot? And the higher the proof, the higher the calories. OMGEEZY!

Don’t they know that liquor saves lives?

So how do we stay slim while enjoying libations!

CORZO FARMERS MARKET MARGARITA

1-1/4 ounces Corzo Silver Tequila
2 sprigs of fresh cilantro
4 slices of fresh cucumber
2 slices of fresh jalapeno
1 ounce fresh lime juice
2 ounces distilled water
2 packets of Splenda or similar
Serve over the rocks in an 8 oz. glass

In a mixing glass add all the ingredients with ice. Shake vigorously and serve in a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with lime wheel.

CORZO ITALIAN SUMMER SIPPER

1-1/4 ounces Corzo Silver Tequila
2 strawberries
1 sprigs of fresh basil
4 drops of balsamic vinegar
1 ounce fresh lime juice
2 ounces distilled water
2 packets of Splenda or similar

In a mixing glass muddle fresh strawberries and basil, add the rest of the ingredients with ice, shake about 20 times and serve in a rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a fresh sprig of basil.

THE SLENDER SAUZARITA

1-1/2 parts Sauza Silver Tequila
1/2 part fresh orange juice
1/2 part fresh lime juice
1/2 part fresh lemon juice
1 part agave nectar
Lime wheel for garnish

Combine all ingredients with ice. Mix well. Pour into chilled martini glass and garnish with a lime wheel.

CUCUMBER COOLER

1-1/2 ounces vodka or gin
2 ounces cucumber juice
2 ounces lemonade
2 ounces soda water
Pinch of fresh dill

Add all ingredients except soda water in mixing glass. Shake and pour into highball glass. Top with soda. Garnish with cucumber slices.

GIN AND DIET TONIC

1-1/2 ounces gin
4 ounces diet tonic

Build both ingredients in a highball glass filled with ice and garnish with lime wedge.

MOJITO

1-1/2 ounces rum
1 ounces lime juice
Splenda or other sugar substitute
Fresh mint
Club soda

Muddle mint, sugar substitute, and lime juice in bottom of a mixing tin. Fill with ice. Add rum and shake well. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice, top with club soda, and garnish with lime wedge and mint sprig.

CUBA LIBRE LIGHT (RUM AND DIET COLA)

1-1/2 ounces rum
4 ounces diet cola

Build both ingredients in a highball glass filled with ice and garnish with lime wedge.

SCOTCH AND CLUB SODA

1-1/2 ounces scotch
4 ounces club soda

Build both ingredients in a highball glass filled with ice.

VODKA GIMLET

1-1/2 ounces vodka
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce sugar substitute

Build ingredients in a highball glass filled with ice and garnish with lime wedge.

VODKA CRANBERRY

1-1/2 ounces vodka
4 ounces diet cranberry juice

Build both ingredients in a highball glass filled with ice and garnish with lime wedge.

WHISKEY TEA SMASH

1-1/2 ounces bourbon or Tennessee Whiskey
1/2 ounce simple syrup
3 ounces cold brew tea
2 ripe peach slices
2 lemon wedges

Place 1 teabag in 3 ounces of cold water and let it infuse to desired strength. Muddle peach and lemon wedge with the simple syrup in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add bourbon or whiskey and tea and shake well with ice. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with sliced peach and lemon.
