7 Tips On How To Take Wildly Amazing Pictures For Instagram
Before my time here on the Internets (because Black people make everything plural) I actually modeled. Mainly in local fashion shows back in Baltimore AND for my boyfriend who is a photographer. Here’s where you go, “Ahh, that’s why your selfies are (insert whatever adjective that moves your soul)!”
With that said, I’ve obviously learned a thing or two (maybe even seven) about posing and how to take a stellar photograph. So here’s seven tips that I swear by and promise will make you the next Instagram celebrity.
1. Stand with your arms at your sides
There’s really no other natural place for them to go. The most important thing to remember when taking photographs is that the best images are usually caught when you are being you. So relax and let your arms rest a bit. Don’t stand with your hands crossed or behind your back. You’ll look completely stupid.
2. Turn your face to the right
Studies have shown that the left side of our face will show exactly how we are feeling at that moment. If you turn slightly to the right you will hide every nervous emotion you feel. See, Arianna Grande is right!
3. Look above the lens of the photo camera
This is for obvious reasons. Staring directly into the camera will have you looking all deer in headlights. This is also a great trick for you beauties who have camera flash issues and close your eyes or get that dreaded red-eye syndrome.
4. Turn your body sideways
Looking slim IS our ultimate goal right? That’s exactly what turning sideways will do for you figure. This trick will also add more curve to your hip and make your waist look thinner. Unless you are a curvy diva…then this rule does not apply to you.

5. Natural makeup
Too much foundation can make your face look greasy and shiny in the picture. So be easy with the brushes and go for a natural bronzed look.
7. Relax and smile
My crew calls it “The Kela.” But seriously guys, however you can get a good laugh out, do it. It will add just the right amount of personality you need to capture the perfect picture.
