how to get your home ready for the holidays {two easy tips}

Many thanks to Bona for sponsoring today’s story and encouraging me to making my hardwood floors shine!

Somewhere along the way, we’ve been conditioned to think that having a festive and sparkling home for the holidays is an unattainable goal. That no matter what we do, it just isn’t going to happen. This is doubly true if you happen to have kids, pets, or even just work outside the home.

Truth be told, it really isn’t that difficult to get your home holiday-ready. And it doesn’t involve hiring housekeepers, cooks or a nanny (though they’d all be handy this time of year!) I have two easily implementable tips to get your home sparkling and festive for the holidays (yes, two!).

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my home, it’s this- “if my floors are clean, the whole house seems clean.” Am I right? Sparkling and clean floors just set the tone for your home, and are the first thing people notice when they enter. I just recently discovered Bona products and am so thankful I did. Bona Hardwood Floor cleaners are non-toxic, GREENGUARD certified, and won’t leave any residue behind.

Adding a #BonaHolidayShine to my home was easy as can be. The mop head easily swivels to get into hard-to-reach places, and, best of all, the thick microfiber mop pad is washable and reusable.

I promised you two tips to get your home ready for the holidays, and here’s my second…

If you’ve done a stovetop potpourri for your home, you know what I’m talking about. Your sense of smell is key to letting you (and your guests) know that your home is clean and festive. There’s just something about a yummy-smelling home that is irresistible. My recipe is simple-slices of an orange and a lemon, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, and a dash of vanilla added to a pot of water. Simmer on the stovetop (being sure to keep and eye on it and replenishing water as needed), and your house will smell divine-I promise!

So, I’d love to know. What is YOUR best tip for getting your home holiday-ready?
