UTKATASANA- Chair Pose

Utka means powerful or fierce, and this definitely is a fierce pose. It will work your ankles, thighs, calves and spine, at the same time stimulating abdominal organs and heart.

How To: Stand straight, on an inhale raise your arms over head, keep your arms shoulder width apart, or if you like - palms may touch. Exhale and bend your knees, like you want to sit down on an imaginary chair. Make sure that your tailbone is pointing down, no sassy bottoms here! Also to prevent your knees from projecting out over your feet, look down towards your feet and make sure you can see your toes. Then keep your gaze forward. Now the challenge is to lower down as parallel to the floor as possible, and keeping it there for 30 second to a minute. Don't give up!
