Video: Floating Embellishment Card + Hero Arts Blog Hop (Giveaways!)
Hello. Today I’m taking part in the Hero Arts Handmade for Christmas Blog Hop, showcasing their newest holiday release. I have a video for you that shows how to create a floating tree card with a fun background. It looks like magic and is sure to impress your card recipient!

Creating this background is such fun. After clear embossing the fantastic background stamp by Hero Arts and Basic Grey on green cardstock, I sprayed it heavily with Gold Metallic Spray from Hero Arts. (Make sure to shake it like crazy before you spray!) After letting it dry completely, I took a cloth and gently buffed the gold off the embossed areas. The embossing powder resists the gold spray and allows the green to show through.
After die cutting a window in the center of the the gold panel and the card, I stretched my favorite gold thread across and sandwiched it between the two pieces.
I used two felt trees from Hero Arts and glued them together in the center of the string, sandwiching the string between them. I colored a Hero Arts snowflake gem and a few regular gemstones with my E35 Copic Marker and adhered the snowflake gemstone to the top of the tree. I didn’t want the back of the snowflake gem to glue my card shut, so on the back I applied some powder from my EK Success powder tool… removing the stick.
Embellishments are not the only thing you can float on a card. You could also use die-cuts or even stamped images!
