LEE JIHAM CC CREAM REVIEW // BEFORE AND AFTER.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the whole BB/CC cream craze ever since it burst onto the beauty scene a few years ago. I absolutely love the idea of combining skin care and makeup and the endless list of properties and benefits in these products sounds, well just too good to be true for the most part.

However I figured that if they work as a phenomenal foundation, then that alone is well worth investigating in, and if along the way through continued use I reap the rewards of better, smoother, more healthy looking skin then I’d consider that a big bonus. BUT the huge issue I have and what seems to be the general issue is that the colour variations of these miraculous formulations is so limited. They usually come in 2 shades- light or dark, I mean that hardly covers any bases at all and I find most brands are either too light or too dark for me – no middle ground at all and for that reason I could never use them for long enough to get to the bottom of these skin care claims.

Anyhow, I was asked to review this CC cream by LEE JIHAM and I again was quite sceptical of it’s suitability for my skin tone. However I was surprised, curious, excited and scared to find that this cream comes in ONE shade only. Ladies I kid you not, the stuff is starking WHITE. I thought the same thing when I pumped it out onto my hand – WTF I do no want to look like casper thank you very much. However when you start to blend the cream into the skin, it releases some sort of chemical reaction and you begin to see the cream transform and blend into your skin tone.

I tried it on my face and VOILA! It blends seamlessly into the skin and I was more surprised at how good the colour match was. I mean it’s not the perfect match but it’s close enough which is more than what I can say for the countless CC and BB creams I’ve tried in the past.

Looking at my above photos you can see that coverage is about a medium at best, which for me is ideal. It gives good cover up for small blemishes and helps to even out any pigmentation or discolouration but I definitely needed extra help with concealer to hide the dark circles under my eyes and some scarring on my face. My skin definitely looked noticeably healthier, and I love that it dries to a semi matte finish, it takes away shine but doesn’t leave it looking too polished and overdone – I like to keep my skin looking quite dewy as it looks more youthful and natural in my opinion.

Now in terms of the Skin care benefits that the LEE JIHAM CC Cream promises to deliver, you can expect the usual offenders in Korean beauty, but here is the round up:

  • Whitening
  • Anti Wrinkle
  • SPF30 PA
  • Vitamin C Essence
  • Treats scar and skin pigmentation
  • Suitable for problem or sensitive skin
  • Hydrate and moisturise
  • Skin resurfacing for smoother complexion
  • Brightening effect for more even skin tone.

Of course I have not used this CC cream long enough to prove the above skincare claims but on first glance as far makeup goes I can say that it does gives ok coverage, evens out skin tone, and as a foundation I think I”d give it a satisfactory rating of 6.5 out 10 purely because I think this could risk looking a little chalky if you are too heavy handed and because I think it could do a little better for coverage..
