Dixie Diary Done

Dixie Diary by Denniele Bohannon She appliqued stars on the pieced blocks.
Denniele used prints from my reproduction collection 1862 Battle Hymn
In 2013 I posted a free Civil War block-of-the-month pattern for Dixie Diary, which told the true story of Sarah Morgan of Baton Rouge in twelve simple blocks.

The history was based on Sarah's diary.

Dixie Diary by Stitch & Knit---all pieced
The blocks were basic with optional hearts and stars appliqued.
Dixie Dairy by Kris Loves Fabric Kris did hers a few years ago when Sandi Brothers kitted it up at her shop A Quilt of Many Colors.

Here's Sandi's version
Dixie Dairy by American Homestead Patterns included instructions for 2 sizes: 8" Blocks or 12" Blocks.

Dixie Diary 2 by Terry at Honas52
Repeated 8" inch blocks
Dustin Cecil made the blocks different sizes, repeated some and devised his own set.
If you'd like to start the 12 blocks there are links to each free pattern in the left column on the Civil War Quilts blog. It's a simple project with a complex story about a Louisiana family during the War.
We're all on to the next project but I'll leave these posts up for a year or two.
