Bright n Scrappy Japanese x + Quilt Finish
Instead of a Quilt Along post today I am going to share with you a recent finish that is so happy and bright it just can't wait any longer.
Have you seen this block all over online quilt land? It's the Japanese x block with tutorial written by Bad Skirt Amy and
found here. It's a simple block that works so well in scrappy combinations. And you know I love me some scrappy goodness!
I slowly made these blocks over the course of a year out of scraps from other people's stashes. I was gifted some, won others and found a great bag of modern scraps at a local thrift shop.
Once all the blocks were together I had a tough time placing each one just right and choosing a background color to tie all the blocks together and fill out the empty spaces. In the end yellow won and I am so glad it did because this quilt couldn't be any happier!
I quilted in in diagonal lines and cross hatched them in the yellow squares. The back is a vintage gingham with a little pieced of patchwork. Binding is also a little yellow print with flowers. So much yummy sunny yellow!
This quilt measures 37" x 50" and is listed in the
Etsy Shop here. Back to regularly scheduled quilt along next week where I talk about basting, quilt back, quilting and binding. Whew! Lots of great resource links then.
Cheers!
Kelly
