Do you always get to try on the clothes before you buy them? Vintage dress (thrifted, $2)thrifted bag ($8, Salvation Army)thrifted shoes ($4. SOSN)belt ($7)Almost all of my clothes are thrifted and most of the thrift stores that I frequent do not have proper changing rooms. I hate it when I have to try on clothes in the middle of the aisle, seriously unglamorous. Moreover, thrift stores do not have exchange policy so I really have to know what works for me. I have small droopy shoulders, so I tend to deviate from turtle necklines and spaghetti strapped tops that tend to emphasize my small shoulders. Pastels make my face look sallow so I avoid pastels tops and dresses. But warm, deep and bright colors like red, orange, purple, green, cobalt blue flatters my warm skin tone. I have a long body shape, so to avoid looking like Olive in Popeye the sailorman, I dont wear skin tight dresses. I wear clothes that give my body some volume at the right places so I wont look shapeless.Do you know your body type and what kind of clothes suits you?Check out the article below:Shape up your wardrobeIn order to dress well, it’s crucial to define and understand your body shape. And as we get older, it’s even more important to know which parts of our bodies we want to show off and which we want to disguise. When you know what shapes will flatter you, it makes shopping a whole lot easier – particularly if you do a lot of home shopping and are unable to try on clothes until they arrive.Read on below for a look at some of the most common female shapes:AppleYour middle is where you hold most of your weight. You have great arms and legs, so the focus should be on your slender limbs and great cleavage. Opt for fitted jackets and low tops, but avoid any bulk on your midriff by wearing side-fastening skirts and wide-leg trousers. Show off a great pair of ankles in a pair of heels or wedges.PearMost British ladies fall into this category. Your widest point is your hips and thighs, but you’re much more delicate up top. This body shape is fantastic for pulling off the tops that other ladies can’t, so take advantage of your figure and go for delicate, sequinned camisoles and cap-sleeved tops to even out your hips. Streamline your legs and hips with tailored trousers, and make the most of your waist with a nipped-in jacket.HourglassYou have an amazing figure, with a nipped-in waist and balanced hips and chest. Dressing this figure can be tricky though – emphasise your waist to avoid looking frumpy and larger than you are. Keep your clothes fitted and opt for tops with a v-neck to lengthen the torso. Pencil skirts will also look great with your curves.PencilYou have a boyish figure with narrow hips, slender legs and a flat chest. To add curves, go for tops with cap sleeves, frilled v-necks and ruffled fabric to create the illusion of a waist. You look great in form-fitting trousers too, so make the most of those legs with fitted trousers and skinny jeans. There are many more body shapes out there, and most of us are lucky if we slot neatly into one category. But by identifying your body shape and understanding which clothes will flatter it, you’ll find shopping a much more satisfying experience.Linking up at Thursday are for Thrifters, check out Meagans fabulous thrifted style and other wonderful links!
