On the Move

My current apartment lease is up in a few weeks and I’ll be moving to my third apartment in New York. Time flies, doesn’t it?! It feels like just yesterday I was packing up my sh*t to move halfway across the country with no idea what was in store for me. Okay, I can’t keep going down this road or there will be tears…

Back to apartment stuff… The place that I will hopefully (cross your fingers!) be living in next month is absolutely gorgeous. Freshly renovated kitchen with stainless steel appliances, an exposed brick wall, a faux fireplace, wide-plank dark wood floors, an outdoor space… I mean, it’s perfect. I got goosebumps and almost started crying when I saw it. Love at first sight and I just had that feeling that it was the one! I promise I’ll finally do an apartment tour if when I get this place. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a small studio in New York City. But it’s definitely one of the better ones I’ve seen!

I’ve had a major decorating itch ever since I decided that I was going to move after my lease was up. I was envisioning that I would move into the stereotypical NYC apartment… Light hardwood floors, white walls, etc. I had a vision of how I wanted to decorate my next place, but now that I’ve applied for a place that has way more character, I’ve had to shift things a bit. I was thinking all white, navy, and gold, with pops of pink, but that won’t really go with the red brick and dark brown floors. So instead, I’m now thinking neutrals are the way to go — shades of white, cream, and gold. And for some pops of print/color, most likely some tasteful leopard print!

This is the couch that I am probably going to get. Couldn’t get it to show up in the slideshow…
