The first time I heard the phrase "black and brown make a frown" I must have been in, like, the 7th grade maybe (??). That rhyme stuck with me all throughout my teen years, making sure to never have both black and brown on my person. It just seemed to make sense back then! Now the whole game is changed. Mixing neutrals is basically my favorite style now. So sorry, Mom, for all those times I told you wearing black and brown together was a crime against fashion when I'd see you sporting the 2 colors.
