~ inspired home: longwood

Finally, under the funniest circumstances, an inspired home...
Got an email from a reader and although it took a couple emails back and forth, luckily I realized she lived in one of my favorite houses in Omaha. I did not hesitate. She said yes.

I love a house with a name. "Boxwood" is a favorite ~ a lovely name for the lovely home of Danielle Rollins. Naming a house brings the history, the charm, and the character of a house together, and establishes the importance of home in a special way.
The original homeowners of this charming country home, back in 1937, borrowed a name from their grandmother's home in Connecticut, and they called it Longwood.
I can easily imagine Longwood standing in all it's glory, alone in the middle of the countryside on the Love farm... far from the center of Omaha. It's white picket fence and expansive yard is still a sight to see in the quaint "Loveland" neighborhood it still resides in today. What a treat that the name was discovered by the current owners on garden papers tucked away, and the story can still be enjoyed today.
How would you like to have breakfast in this room?

These cookbooks are not for decoration. The woman of this house cooks... as in gourmet. And so does her daughter.

Look at this little sweetie pie. I love her.

And I love this kitchen and those brick floors are the prettiest I've ever seen!

Not sure how I got out of there without more pics of the kitchen, but you can definitely get the feel. It's not a Star Wars kitchen. I love that there's no island! It's a charming and functional kitchen... and again, she actually cooks.

This gorgeous gallery across the back of the house is a happy and sunny space...

The dining room has two gorgeous John Gordon paintings...

She needlepointed this seat herself. So impressive..

What a handsome room this is...

The living room...

A charming powder room painted by Andy Moore!

Check out this laundry room! What a dream... And look at the painting of the clothes line ~ love it!

To the master bedroom...

Total luxury = "hers" bathroom...

Sweet wallpaper for the lucky first grandson...

My new BFF...

Although I am quite satisfied with the fact that I have the privilege of sharing this gorgeous and inspiring home, I must tell you that I will be itching for spring. I'll be begging to get back over there and photograph the yard. The very yard that once held pigs, or chickens, or whatever farm animals they had on Longwood back in the day. House lovers have coveted this Omaha home for many years, and hopefully, if we are lucky, you'll get to see why this spring!
