Prada Candy L'eau

Prada Candy is the latest addition to my small collection of fragrances, I've wanted it for ages but there's never any testers in my local stores. Prada Candy original really caught my attention with its sweet, candy notes, but the musk threw me off the scent and it remained on the shelf. Candy L'eau is the little sister to Candy original, with more oriental, citrus notes swirled with caramel. I think fragrances are one of the most difficult things to blog about - how do you describe a scent without it actually being there? Here's my stab at it…

Prada Candy L'eau by comparison to Candy is a weaker, less deep scent but still maintains the fun, flirty, super sweet undertone. It still contains musk (which I really can't stand) but that's as a subtle base, it's not very potent - what comes through for me is the notes of caramel, citrus and oriental florals. The sweetness of the fragrance isn't too sickly, while the citrus cuts through perfectly without being overpowering. Officially the heart note is delicate sweet pea, the middle notes are Sicilian Lemon and exotic mandarin, and the base notes are white musk, benzoin, and caramel (which are the three top, base and middle notes of Candy original…a nice nod to the original fragrance). All in all it's a really fun, elegant and easy to wear fragrance. I spritz a little on my wrists, elbows and neck for an instant burst of refreshing femininity with a playful edge. Candy L'eau is only available as an EDT which is a bit of a shame because it isn't very long lasting.
The reason I've blogged about this is because I think it will make the perfect Christmas gift for any woman that you may be stumped about buying for - it's a very easy to wear scent and will please most tastes. I certainly would be pleased if I were to receive it and now I've dipped my toes into the world of Candy gently I might try wearing the Candy original fragrance too and see what I think of it.
