DIY Sprayable Lotion Recipe with Shea Butter & Safflower

This sprayable lotion recipe is really easy to make, it’s not greasy feeling and it leaves your skin feeling super soft after applying. You will however need to use a refined shea butter rather than raw shea butter to ensure this stays smooth and sprayable, but you can easily customize it with the fragrance of your choice. I scented mine with one of my own favorites, Red Velvet Cake.

Ingredients:

2 oz. safflower oil
.5 oz. refined & deodorized shea butter
.1 oz. stearic acid
1 oz. Cyclomethicone
.25 oz. Dimethhicone
.25 oz. rosehip seed oil
.25 oz. walnut oil
.5 oz. refined hemp seed oil
.15 oz. fragrance oil, optional

Instructions:

Begin by using a digital scale to weigh out the shea butter and stearic acid in a medium glass Pyrex measuring cup. Heat in at 60% power in the microwave just until it’s almost fully melted. Carefully removed from the microwave – use a towel as the glass does get hot! – and stir with a fork until the stearic acid has melted completed.

Weigh out the remaining ingredients and combine with the melted shea butter and stearic acid. Stir well.

Using a small funnel

pour the liquid lotion evenly into two 4 oz. glass bottles or three 2 oz. glass bottles with a fingertip misters. Shake well.

To use simply spray on as desired and massage into skin. Shake well before each use.
