Beautiful Bedrooms: Master Bedroom Inspiration

It’s time to spice up my bedroom– um, bedroom decor, that is. I’ve been working on redecorating the master bedroom for awhile, slowly gathering my resources, window shopping, and taking time to to truly decide how I want the room to feel.

I’ve learned the very first step in a successful design is to take inventory of your style and how you’d love your room to look and feel. I’ve talked about how to do this again and again (like here and here), so instead of describing the process again like a broken record I thought I’d skip ahead to photos of beautiful bedrooms that are inspiring my master bedroom design. Do kids these days even know what ‘broken record’ means? #digress

Step One: Rounding Up Design Ideas and Inspiration

First, the bed. After looking at my bedroom decorating ideas pinboard two styles popped out immediately: four poster beds and upholstered beds. I mean, really. LOVE.

After much thought, I nixed the four poster bed idea because my two little minions would use them as monkey bars. Therefore I went for upholstered headboards, similar to these beautiful bedroom looks:

I found an upholstered bed I adore and ordered it back in January; I’ll share it with you next week! Until then, onward with my master bedroom wish list..

Another thing I’d love to incorporate is a reading nook in the corner. Wouldn’t that be dreamy?

Of course, designing any room is about a feeling. Even if these bedrooms aren’t exactly what I’m going for, they make my heart sing:

Now that I’ve shared a few of the looks I’m dreaming about for our bedroom decorating adventure, the next step is creating a design board tailored to the actual space and available pieces in my price range. Stay tuned for my master bedroom design board next week… oh, the possibilities!

Take inventory of your bedroom space right now: is it exactly how you’d love it to be? Does it need some help? What are your favorite parts, and which areas need either a quick fix or a total makeover? Tell me all about it!
