4 Tricks for Getting Everything Out of the Bottle

Few things are more frustrating than when you can’t get those last drops of product out of the bottle. It may not be as devastating as messing up your eye makeup, but it feels defeating! You can only bang the container against your hand so many times before giving up and tossing it. Since we spend good money on our beauty products, we deserve every last drop in the bottle. So, to help you get your money’s worth and a few more weeks use out of those tubes and pumps of face washes and shampoos, here are 4 methods for getting all of your product out of the bottle.

Method 1: When products begin to get low, begin storing them upside down. Turning the container upside down will draw all of the product towards the opening, so you won’t have to shake it before use. This will work for a few days to remove product, but then you’ll need to move on to another method.

Method 2: Thinning out product will make it slide or squeeze out of a bottle easier. If you’re working with a thick lotion or cream, place the container in a glass or bowl of hot water for a few minutes. This will warm and liquify the product just enough to remove the remaining contents. You can also try this trick for getting more mascara out of your tube and when opening a nail polish bottle.

Method 3: Lotions can build up around the neck of a tube, making it impossible to get the product out. Start by pushing the product down towards the opening as much as possible, then cut the tube in half about half way down. You can scoop out the remaining lotion and place in a different container with easier access, or simply use the cut off portion as a lid by sliding it over the container after use. This works on pump bottles as well.

Method 4: There are a few ways you can combine products to get more bang for your buck. If working with shampoo or conditioner, add a small amount of water to the bottle, swish it around to remove product from the bottle walls and then apply to hair. If you’re trying to get more use out of your foundation, mix a small amount of warmed up face lotion to the container and swish. Now you have a tinted moisturizer!
