It’s the first time I’ve ever been sent a product to celebrate Diwali. One of my Facebook friends sent a message last week that really resonated with me. She said “Whatever the reasons are for Diwali and whichever religion it originates from and whoever celebrates it, I’m all for celebrating an occasion that represents lighting up the world and symbolises lighting up our lives. Happy Diwali to all, may god always shine a light at the end of any darkness you face.”
I just thought it such a beautiful sentiment and that we all have reasons to celebrate with symbolic light. It’s easy to get carried away with the whole fragrance element of candles, when really, for centuries and centuries, these lights have been symbols of hope, festivities and remembrance. The Rituals Sacred Fire candle has reminded me of all the other things that candles do, other than smelling nice, so thank you, Rituals for that little prod out of beauty world and into the bigger picture.
Product wise, the candle is a whopper at 1000g – and a bit of a snip at £39.50 HERE. The fragrance is white patchouli and cedar wood – you do get a big smack of patchouli but it’s tempered by the wood. One for long, happy evenings by the fireside, I think.
