Our Story

Matthew and I met in 2006. He moved in with the boyfriend of one of my good friends, and also started working at their little cafe in Romeo, MI. He was a singer in a band I used to go see play all throughout my high school years. However, I never really payed attention to him at that point! That is before the word spread around town that – “Wedge” (from their well known band) moved into town with a friend of mine. So I went into the cafe they worked at in town and saw him! I thought, “wow, he is a cutie!” Matt says he thought I was a cute little high schooler.. when actually I was just out of high school! Later that night, I went to the boys house. Everyone was hanging out around the TV in the living room and just chatting. Matt came out of his room and said “Does anyone want to come with me to get pizza?” My friend nudged my knee and I blushed. I chickened out and did not go! When he came back, he was walking into the living room with the pizza and ran into the doorway. Everyone busted out laughing. To this day Matt says he ran into the door because he was looking at the cute blonde girl hanging out in his living room (ME!). The next time I went over, my friend and her boyfriend were trying to figure out a way to get us to start talking. So they took a picture of me and we wrote my number on it, and slipped it under his door. A few days passed and I didn’t hear anything! I was devastated. That is when my friend’s boyfriend asked Matt why he didn’t text/call me. Matt said he thought the picture was a joke from his roommates and crumpled it up and threw it away. He got my number from him again and text me that night! We hit it off right away and hung out almost everyday for a whole YEAR before we started actually dating. We are truly best friends and meant to be! We have been together for over 7 years now and he finally asked me to marry him on HIS birthday (August 11th) of this year. He told me wanted one more thing for his birthday, and it was to be his wife. I really couldn’t imagine my life with out him by my side!!!

Wedding Plans

We are getting married in the fall of 2014 at Van Hoosen Farm in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Matthew and I are down to earth and laid back, and that is how we want our wedding to be. We love fall – (mostly because that is when we fell in love) the festivities and Michigan fall colors. We would love to have a rustic fall wedding. A big beautiful barn all lit up, with some elegant drapes. The colors would most likely be gray & white with a pop of another color… but nothing to distract from the natural beauty of Michigan’s fall colors! The center pieces may be a mixture of baby’s breath, tree branches, pumpkins and acorns.
