Womens beanie crochet tutorial

Mijn eerste blog van 2014 moet meteen maar een goede worden: een tutorial! Al eerder schreef ik een haakpatroon voor meneren (met een grote knerp) en mini's (met een veel minder groot hoofd), dus het werd hoog tijd dat mevrouwen ook eens aan de beurt zouden komen. Vorig jaar haakte ik en granny sjaal voor mezelf en het leek me leuk om daar een bijpassende muts bij te hebben.

Now, I've written a pattern for males (with a large head) and miniatures (with a significantly smaller head), so it was about time us women would get our own beanie pattern too. Last year I crocheted a granny scarf for myself and I really think it needed a matching beanie.

Moeilijk is het niet om een muts als deze te haken. Ik haakte die van mij in één avondje af. Gewoon een kwestie van wol in huis halen en haken maar.

It's not a very difficult crochet pattern. I finished mine on one night. Just a matter of buying some yarn, some hooking and that's it.

Wat heb je nodig?
- 3 bollen merinowol die je op naald 5 kunt haken (2 bollen in de hoofdkleur, 1 bol voor het randje). Merinowol is een beetje elastisch en dat is precies wat een fijne muts nodig heeft. Ik haakte zelf met Lana Grossa Bingo, één van mijn favoriete garens. Het is zacht, elastisch en is in heel veel kleuren beschikbaar.
- Haaknaald 6 mm
- Maasnaald en schaar voor het afwerken.

What do you need?
- 3 balls of merino wool that you can crochet on a 5 mm hook (2 balls in the main colour, 1 colour for the edge). Merinowool is just lovely. It's a little elastic and that's exactly what a nice beanie needs. I used Lana Grossa Bingo, one of my favorite yarns. It's soft, elastic and it's available in so many colours.
- Crochet hook 6 mm (a UK 4 or US J hook)
- Needle and scissors for finishing up.

Voor je begint!
- Aan het einde van elke tour maak je de stokjes aan elkaar vast met een halve vaste
- Elke tour begint met 2 losse die tellen als één stokje

• Tour 1. Begin met een 'magic circle' of haak 2 losse en haak 10 stokjes in de cirkel (of in de tweede losse van de naald)
• Tour 2. Haak 2 losse (telt als 1 stokje), haak een stokje op dezelfde plek en haak in elk stokje van de vorige ronde 2 stokjes.
• Tour 3. Haak 2 losse (telt als 1 stokje), haak 2 stokjes in de volgende steek, *haak weer 1 stokje en weer 2 stokje*, herhaal ** totdat je rond bent
• Tour 4. Haak 2 losse (telt als 1 stokje), haak 1 stokje en dan 2 stokjes in de volgende. Haak 1 stokje in de volgende 2 en 2 stokjes in de derde steek totdat je rond bent.
• Tour 5. Haak 2 losse (telt als 1 stokje), haak 1 stokje in de volgende twee steken en 2 stokjes in de volgende steek. Haak 1 stokje in de volgende 3 en 2 stokjes in de vierde steek en herhaal dit totdat je rond bent.
• Tour 6. Haak 2 losse (telt als 1 stokje), haak 1 stokje in de volgende 3 steken en 2 stokjes in de volgende steek. Haal 1 stokje in de volgende 4 steken en 2 sokjes in de vijfde steek. Herhaal dit totdat je rond bent.
• Tour 7. Haak 2 losse (telt als 1 stokje) en haak 1 stokje op elk stokje van de vorige ronde.
• Tour 8-13, herhaal Tour 7.
• Tour 14. Haak 1 losse (telt als 1 vaste) en haak 1 vaste op elk stokje van de vorige ronde.
• Tour 15. Wissel van kleur! Haak 1 losse (telt als 1 vaste) en haal 1 vaste op elke vaste van de vorige ronde.
• Tour 16. Maak je muts af met een randje kreeftsteken (dit zijn vasten, maar dan andersom). Op

deze video zie je hoe je kreeftsteken maakt. Werk je eindjes weg en: tadaah, een supergave muts voor jezelf!

Before you start!
- At the end of every round you join the last to the first DC with a slipstitch
- You start every round with chain 2 that count as 1 dc.

• Round 1. Make a 'magic cricle' or chain 2 and crochet 10 DC's in the circle or in the 2nd chain from the hook.
• Round 2. Crain 2, crochet a DC in the same place and crochet 2 dc's in every dc of the last round.
• Round 3. Chain 2, crochet 2 DC's in the next stitch, crochet 1 DC in the next and 2 DC's in the 2nd stitch, repeat this until the end of the round.
• Round 4. Chain 2, crochet 1 DC in the next stitch, 2 DC's in the next stitch. Crcohet 1 DC's in the next 2 stitches and 2 DC's in the 3rd stitch, repeat this till the end of the round.
• Round 5. Chain 2m crochet 1 dc in the next 2 stitches and 2 DC's in the next stitch. Crochet 1 DC in the next 3 stitches en 2 DC's in the fourth, repeat this until the end of the round.
• Round 6. Chain 2, crochet 1 DC in the next 3 stitches and 2 DC's in the next. Crochet 1 DC in the next 4 stitches and 2 DC's in the 5th. Repeat this until the end of the round.
• Round 7. Chain 2, crochet 1 DC in every stitch of the last round.
• Round 8-13. Repeat round 7.
• Round 14. Chain 1 (counts as 1 SC) and crochet 1 SC in every stitch of the last round.
• Round 15. Switch colour! Chain 1 (counts as 1 SC) and crochet 1 SC in every stitch of the last round.
• Round 16. Finish you beanie by crocheting a round of crab stitches (reverse SC's), this video shows you how to make a crab stitch.

En daar is hij dan! Een fijne muts, helemaal voor jezelf! Ik hoop dat het is gelukt, laat het me gerust weten als je vragen hebt.
Nog een paar tips voor eventuele aanpassingen:

• Wil je een kleinere muts, sla dan stap 6 over of gebruik een kleinere haaknaald.
• Wil je juist een grotere muts (grotere omtrek van het hoofd), meerder dan nog één of 2 extra touren. Gewoon blijven passen! Dat heb ik (tot grote hilariteit van mijn man) ook gedaan.
• Wil je een langere muts? Haak dan nog één of twee extra rondes zoals Tour 7.
• Heb je écht geen zin in de kreeftsteek? Haak dan in plaats daarvan een extra tour vasten, lekker stevig.

A few hints and tricks if you want to alter your beanie:

• If you want a smaller beanie: skip round 6.
• If you want a larger beanie (circumference), keep increasing 1 or 2 rounds after round 6. Keep trying the beanie until it's large enough. That's what I did (ignoring the laughter of my husband).
• Want a longer beanie? Add a one or two more rounds like round 7.
• Can't get the hang of that blasted crab stitch? Skip it! Don't worry about it and just add another round of SC's instead of the slip stitches.
