Nordic shawl for summer

Een sjaal voor de zomer? Waarom niet eigenlijk! En ondanks dat de Nordic Shawl misschien nogal winters klinkt, is deze sjaal heerlijk licht. Ik haakte hem namelijk met vederlicht katoen.

A scarf for summer? Why not! This is the Nordic Shawl, maybe that sounds a little wintery, but I made this one in very light cotton and that makes this scarf so light and comfortable.

Ik haakte al eerder een driehoekige sjaal, maar dan een héél dik winterexemplaar van zachte merinowol. Deze is beter geschikt voor de zomer, bijvoorbeeld over een shirtje of de zomerjas. Gewoon, voor als het nog net even te hard waait of voor frisse zomeravonden.

I made a triangle shaped scarf before, from merino wool which was perfect for winter. This one is much lighter, a true summer scarf to wear with a shirt of my jacket. For when it's windy or for a chilly summers night.

Het patroon is van My Rose Valley (te koop via Etsy) en het haakt echt supersnel weg, een heel gemakkelijk en toegankelijk patroon. Alleen tijdens het maken van de gekleurde toeren moet je even goed opletten en af en toe even tellen. Maar dat ging toch behoorlijk goed. Ik ben vooral gek op de afwerking, mooie rand hè!

The pattern is by My Rose Valley and is for sale via Etsy. It's a quick and easy pattern, very accessible. Only when making the coloured tours I had to pay some proper attention and do some counting. But that went okay anyway. I especially like the finishing, what a cute edge!

Ik haakte deze sjaal met Cotton8 van Scheepjeswol, superlicht en prettig om mee te werken. Omdat dit katoen een stuk dunner is dan de wol die wordt aangeraden in het patroon, heb ik het patroon een klein beetje moeten aanpassen.

Ik gebruikte haaknaald 3,5 mm en haakte eerst 46 touren met wit (ipv 40) en na de kleurtjes haakte ik 7 touren wit (ipv 5) en dan nog kom je helemaal goed uit met het patroon, dus dat was wel een opluchting. Dus als je de sjaal nog groter wilt maken, is dat helemaal geen probleem.

This scarf was made using Cotton8 by Dutch brand Scheepjeswol, it's very light and lovely to work with. It's a bit thinner than the yarn advised in the pattern, so I had to make some small adjustments.

I used hook 3.5 mm and crocheted 46 rounds of white (instead of 40) and after the colours I hooked 7 rows of white (instead of 5) and that's no problem for the other parts of the pattern. Lucky me! So if you want to make this scarf even bigger, no problem.
