Completely Orla Inspired

Af en toe klinkt hier in huis gejuich. Meestal ben ik dat. Dat krijg je van werken vanuit huis: zodra er iets leuks gebeurt, heb je alleen jezelf maar om je feestje mee te vieren. Maar in dit geval vond ik het helemaal niet erg om in mijn eentje een vreugdedansje te maken. Ik ontving namelijk een mailtje: Orla Kiely kwam met een gloednieuwe schoenenlijn. Of ik een paar wilde uitproberen.

Every now and then the sound of cheering is heard in our house. Mostly, it's me doing the cheering. Now that's the things about having your office at home. Whenever something fun happens, there's only one person to celebrate with. But this time, I didn't made squeeling all by myself. I included a little happy dance, just because I could. I recieved an e-mail. Orla Kiely was going to be launching shoes, did I want to try out a pair?

Jullie mogen drie keer raden hoe lang ik erover moest nadenken om ja te zeggen. Euh, helemaal niet lang dus! Nu mag je gerust van me weten: ik ben een enorme fan van Orla Kiely. Ik loop al jaren weg met haar ontwerpen, vooral haar serviezen, keramiek, stoffen en behang vind ik geweldig. Een paar jaar geleden kwam ik erachter dat zij nu ook kleding ontwerpt. En dit jaar zijn daar dus schoenen bijgekomen, die via Clarks worden verkocht.

Now, you can take three guesses on how long it took me to say yes. Ehr, not long at all of course. You have to know that I am a huge fan of all things Orla. For years now I have been completely smitten with her designs, especially her ceramics, wallpapers and fabrics. Last year I foud out that she also designs clothes and since this years there are also Orla Kiely shoes for sale, via Clarks.

Al bracht zo'n mooi aanbod wel keuzestress met zich mee, want ik mocht zelf een paar kiezen en er was behoorlijk wat keuze uit verschillende schoenen van Orla Kiely. Over het algemeen kies ik voor safe. Ik draag eigenlijk altijd zwarte of grijze schoenen. Of in ieder geval schoenen in één kleur. Mijn eerste gedachte was dus om een paar zwarte pumps te kiezen, maar omdat ik daar al twee paar van heb staan, haalde ik diep adem en vroeg om een paar bruin met okergele Orla Dotty's. Best wel spannend.

However, getting such a fine offer can be rather stressful. 'Cause I was allowed to pick a pair of shoes from the entire new collection, and that my friends... is quite the collection. In general I always play safe when it's about shoes. My favorite pairs are black or grey. So my first thoughts was to take the road of the least resistance and pick black pumps. I mean, those are nice and go with everything. But, to be honest, I already have two pair of black pumps. Did I really need another pair. I decided to be brave and bold and go for the brown and mustard Orla Dotty's. Exciting!

Toen het pakketje binnen kwam, was het wederom juichen geblazen! Alleen de styling van de doos en de toebehoren al, hélemaal in Orla style. Liefde op het eerste gezicht. En na het openen van de door werd ik nog veen blijer, want oh wat zijn deze Dotty's mooi en stoer. En wat zijn de kleuren goed. De foto's op de website doen deze schoenen absoluut geen recht, want ze zijn het einde! Ik besloot spontaan dat bruin en okergeel voor mij de kleuren gaan worden komende winter.

The arrival of the parcel asked for another happy dance as I was immediately completely smitten with the wrapping and the branding. It's just so... Orla! And when I opened the shoebox, it was just love at first sight. Honestly. The Dotty's are just so cool, bold and stylish at the same time. The colours are just so good. I don't think the pics on the website are doing the Dotty's enough justice as they are far more stylish in real life. I decided on the spot that brown and mustard are going to be my colours for this fall.

Serieus, heb je ooit een paar schoenen gezien met zo'n gave zool! Daarvoor alleen al zou je het bijna doen. Maar oké, de hamvraag: zitten ze ook lekker? Het zijn nogal heftige schoenen met zo'n hoge hak, dus dat is altijd even spannend. Van Clarks was ik wel gewend dat er een goed voetbed en dergelijke in zou zitten en dat was in het geval van deze schoenen ook. Mede door het voetbed en de stabiele hak zitten de pumps echt heel lekker. Ik heb ze afgelopen weekend de hele dag aangehad én heb er zelfs mee gefietst. Zegt toch genoeg?

Seriously, did you have see a pair of shoes with such a cute sole on them? It would almost be a reason to get them! But now the most important thing: were they comfortable? I mean, they are rather bold with a kickass heel, so that could potentially be challenging. Now, Clarks shoes often have a good footbed and that could make a huge difference. Lucky for me, these Orla shoes also had the footbed and even though the heel is quite high it's also very stable and I thought these pumps were very comfy to walk in. I wore them yesterday all day and even went cycling with them, that says it all really.

Dus nu vraag ik me af: welk paar Orla's zou jij kiezen voor deze winter?
So now I'm wondering, which par of Orla's would you pick for this fall?
