David Dallas & TDR at Rapture

At half past one in the afternoon on Saturday, lines had already formed, fans waiting outside, drinking, getting shade, trying on their new Slim Shady tees. Inside, the stage sat waiting, the empty pit and terraces staring back at David and The Daylight Robbery. Wide-eyes turned back and forth from the expanse of Western Springs in front, to the huge screens overhead. If it hadn’t hit them before, it probably did then. This was no ordinary show. They were opening for a superstar. What a trip to see the name ‘David Dallas’ on the same bill as Eminem. There was something in the air that day in Auckland, the traffic, the drunk people pissing on the street, the costumes from the 9′s, it all added to the buzz of excitement that hummed happily through the 55 thousand plus people who set about filling the stadium. And at 5:45 PM David Dallas and the Daylight Robbery stepped on stage and killed it, from front – to back. What a day, what a night, what a glorious memory.
