So, I’m gonna run 10 kilometres in 6 weeks. Is that us? (eeeek!)

Pics from last weeks #SheRunsAKL event, I had so much FOMO, I’m joining in this week :)

Running doesn’t come naturally to me, but this is something I’m actually quite excited about. Even though I’ve been fairly consistent with exercise this year, on average I’ve been going to the gym a couple times a week, I don’t get into great shape unless I’m working towards a specific goal. I haven’t had a specific goal in awhile, sometimes you have to have goals forced upon you, haha! So, my new goal – and first exercise goal of the year (what have I been doing all this time?) is to run 10 km in six weeks.

Nike has a run club that meets every Monday night at 530 PM, She Runs AKL, and for the next six weeks, starting tomorrow, the run club will help train you up towards running 10 kilometres. Then, on April 28th, we run 10 km, eek! So, that’s what I’ll be doing every Monday night. Is that us? Keen, g? I reckon you should get amongst so I have some mates there.

If you do happen to come along and see me there, you’ll most likely see me at the back of the pack, huffing and puffing and panting and all red in the face. I think the most I’ve ever run without stopping is 5km, and I felt like I was dying, so…this will be a challenge to say the least. But I reckon after all the pain, it will be fun, and definitely a pretty rad achievement to be able to run 10 km at the end of it.

Also, for extra motivation, make sure you register when you come along tomorrow, cos you and a mate could win a trip to run in Sydney! See ya tomorrow (Monday)?? Yay!

Introducing She Runs Auckland – a six week training program for female runners.

Register with a friend for the six week program, building to a 10km run. You’ll both be able to measure your progress week-to-week with milestones and rewards.

It all starts at Nike Britomart, each Monday at 5.30pm from 10th March until 21st April.

Then join us on 28th April for a 10km run that puts the six weeks of training and conditioning to the test. This is a chance for you and a friend to not only reach that final milestone, but you’ll go into the draw to win a trip to Australia, to attend the She Runs Sydney event on Saturday May 3rd.

One lucky duo will fly to Sydney to represent Auckland and share in the ultimate moment and own the city.

Are you ready? It all starts here.
