Beanie Style

I’ve never thought of myself as a hat person. I love the way that hats look on other people, but I don’t feel like I can pull them off myself. Hat person or not, when it’s winter on the East Coast you don’t really have a choice. You need to wear a hat (unless you’re into freezing your ears off).

Earlier in the season I bought a cozy, black-and-white striped beanie from Joe Fresh. It was the first hat that I’ve bought where I thought “Hey, this doesn’t look half-bad on me!” Now I’m thinking maybe I can wear hats, or at least that I look okay in a beanie. I purchased that beanie mainly for warmth purposes, but now I’m starting to see it as an accessory too- a way to finish off the outfit. Over the weeks I’ve saved a few inspirational pictures for styling a beanie and I shared some of my favorites above.

During the long weekend, I knit a beanie out of some burgundy yarn that I had stashed away. This is only the second beanie that I own, but I’m looking forward to wearing it for an outfit post and seeing if I still think I can pull off the beanie style. I also really want a basic black version- something to add a little edge to a casual outfit.

Tell me: Do you wear hats? If so, what’s your favorite style?
